MBABANE:Nigel England, a senior Manager at Kentucky Fried Chicken(KFC) says sports creates discipline and team building skills for children.
Nigel was speaking on Monday when handing over a donation amounting to nine hundred thousand(R900,000.00) the the Scara Thindwa Soccer Foundation.
“KFC appreciates the link between sport and the development of children. Sport brings discipline, structure, cooperation and team building skills to children. These are all skills they can take forward in life. We also note that children who do sport also excel academically because sport feeds the brain”, he said as quoted by Government online platforms.
On another note, Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Minister Bongani Nzima called for cooperation between Government and the private sector in developing sports in the country.
“For all our focus on the end product, we are all aware that there can be no high performance sport without adequate investment into grassroots development. By creating a platform for both boys and girls to play in a structured tournament, this investment by KFC Eswatini speaks to the very heart of our sporting needs as a country.Sport development cannot be driven by Government alone. We need the private sector and all partners to join hands with us and adopt a ‘nkwe’ attitude towards investing in local sport,” said the Minister.
Former Justice Minister David Matse was present during the handover of the donation.
